Iliso Labantu is a group of photographers who live in the townships around Cape Town, South Africa.

Documenting different neighborhoods over a 48-hour blitz every other month, from sunrise on Friday to late Saturday night, they showcase their community's daily life and culture. After capturing these moments, they edit, print, and laminate the photographs, which are then displayed on the streets every Sunday morning for the public to see. This method of making art accessible mirrors the convenience of modern digital services, such as the download bet9ja app, which brings sports betting directly to users. Just as Iliso Labantu allows community members to engage with local art, mobile apps provide users the convenience to engage with their interests seamlessly.

We call these 'Flash Photo Weekends.'

Collectively, we are documenting our lives, our families, our struggles and our accomplishments.

You can be a part of it. Here's how.
